What is the working principle of the insulation pipe spraying and winding equipment?

In the fields of heat, gas and other pipeline transportation, the performance of insulation pipes directly affects the efficiency and safety of energy transmission, and the insulation pipe spraying and winding equipment is a key production tool to ensure its quality. This type of equipment evenly wraps the insulation material on the surface of the pipeline through precise mechanical design and automatic control. To gain a thorough understanding of its working principle, it is necessary to analyze the core system, operation process and technical key points of the equipment one by one.
I. Core System Composition of the Equipment
The insulation pipe spraying and winding equipment mainly consists of four major parts: the spraying system, the winding system, the pipeline conveying system and the automatic control system. The spraying system is responsible for evenly spraying liquid or semi-solid insulation materials, such as polyurethane foam, epoxy powder, etc., onto the surface of the pipeline. The winding system, through the mechanical arm and the retraction device, winds the protective layer materials, such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE), glass fiber cloth, etc., around the insulation layer according to the set parameters. The pipeline conveying system ensures that the pipelines pass through the processing area of the equipment at a constant speed. The automated control system monitors and regulates the parameters of each link in real time to ensure the processing accuracy and stability.
Ii. Working Mechanism of the Spraying System
The spraying system takes high-pressure airless spraying technology as its core. After the equipment is started, the insulation material enters the plunger pump through the storage tank and is sprayed out through the small holes of the specially designed spray gun under high pressure (usually 15-35 mpa). The moment the material leaves the spray gun, the pressure drops sharply, forming an atomized state that adheres evenly to the surface of the pipe. For instance, in the production of polyurethane insulation pipes, isocyanate and polyether polyol, two raw materials, are mixed in a spray gun and then sprayed. Upon contact with air, they immediately undergo a chemical reaction, rapidly foaming and curing to form a dense insulation layer. Meanwhile, the system can control the thickness and density of the insulation layer by adjusting parameters such as the moving speed of the spray gun, spraying pressure, and raw material ratio.
Iii. Coordinated Operation of the Winding System
The winding system needs to be precisely coordinated with the spraying system. When the insulation layer on the surface of the pipeline is sprayed, the winding device starts immediately. Take the winding of HDPE outer protective layer as an example. The HDPE tape in rolls is unwound by the unwinding device, and its position is adjusted by the guide roller. Then, it is wound around the insulation layer with a constant tension by the traction mechanism. During the winding process, the equipment can adjust the winding Angle (usually in a spiral shape) and the lap width to ensure that the outer protective layer is closely attached without any gaps. Some high-end equipment is also equipped with heating welding devices. During the winding process, the edges of HDPE tapes are thermally melted to bond them together, forming a continuous and sealed protective layer, which enhances the waterproof and anti-corrosion performance.
Fourth, automated control achieves precise processing
The automatic control system is the "brain" of the equipment. The data such as the pipe diameter, operating speed, spraying pressure and winding tension are monitored in real time through sensors, and the information is fed back to the central controller. The controller automatically adjusts the parameters of each system according to the preset program. For example, when a change in the pipe diameter is detected, the system will synchronously adjust the distance of the spray gun and the opening and closing Angle of the winding device. If there is a deviation in the spraying thickness, the controller will immediately correct the output of raw materials and the spraying speed. In addition, the automation system can also achieve remote monitoring and fault early warning, and display the operating status of the equipment through a visual interface, thereby enhancing production efficiency and management convenience.
The insulation pipe spraying and winding equipment, through the coordinated operation of the four major systems of spraying, winding, conveying and automatic control, transforms the complex process of pipeline insulation and protection into a highly efficient and precise standardized production process.
